The Rookery offers all the army-building challenges and explosive potential of classic roguelikes with the timeless fun of chess. Your army will start meager but you will be offered many upgrades - will you go for a pawn-centric build, or try to get as many queens as possible? Will you go for the greedy options, preparing to destroy the final boss as long as you can sneak through the first act with some timely potions?

We have a very wide range of difficulty-the game can be played and won by someone who has never played chess before, while simultaneously posing a brutal challenge for accredited international masters!

Each run, craft an army - collect pieces, boosts, relics and consumables to prepare for your next fight!

Each run is different. As you complete runs, you'll unlock harder levels and crazier items!

Synergize all your upgrades together to destroy even the toughest bosses!

10 different bosses with powerful, unique abilities!

5 different starting relics, leading to a wide variety of play experiences!
